Golf Digest called us up to make an image of Brandt Snedeker celebrating his status as “PGA Rookie of the Year” in a Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes fashion. We got the call on Friday, the go-ahead on Saturday. We flew up on Monday and shot on Tuesday.
We first contacted local photographer Mark Tucker for assistant recommendations and while he told us producing the shoot over the weekend would be nearly impossible, he referred us to Jon Morgan anyway. Morgan was great and somehow we also found Rich Kalonick, who was a real asset to the shoot possessing both assisting and recorder-playing skills. We would call on either of them again, even just to find out where to hang out in Nashville. Their recommendation last time, Boscos, cured our post-shoot beer-tooth.
Xstreamers was the only distributor of the confetti we wanted who answered their phone on a Sunday and shipped Monday morning. Somehow Fed-ex came through and the package arrived in Nashville on time.
Our friend Dave Newman, of Groovy Soup, a boutique design firm in Nashville, helped us out in designing the fake check over the weekend and having it promptly printed at Wondergraphics.
Jeff White at Dynamic Post is definitely the smartest videographer in Nashville. He’s the only one who took us seriously about getting his full day rate to pose in our picture (which took about an hour of his time).
Snedeker and his fiancee, Mandy Toth, were an absolute pleasure to work with. When we called to scout the location Brandt just left the front door open for us even though he wasn’t going to be there. He and Mandy had no problem acting out this celebration scene several times, a few times barefoot in a robe, and seemed unconcerned about the giant mess we created in the process.
