2009 Mercedes-Benz Championship winner Geoff Ogilvy walks off the teebox on the Plantation Course.
Our valued relationship with Mercedes-Benz and the marketing gurus at Sage Collective continued this year in Maui. We are always impressed with the level of excellence attained, but there was something special about the tournament this year. Perhaps it was the fact that, despite all the economic gloom, Mercedes-Benz has not shied away from a commitment to golf sponsorship. From the celebrities to the fans, it seemed like no one was taking that for granted.
The beauty of Kapalua’s Plantation Course puts everyone in a good mood, too. This year’s weather was absolutely the best we’ve seen. Even the island of Molokai, which is the backdrop on many of the signature holes, was without its typical blanket of clouds and haze.
We also did a photo shoot with singer/songwriter Josh Kelley. He was out in Maui to perform at a Mercedes event, sing the national anthem at the start of the tournament, and play some golf in the pro-am. We photographed Josh near the 4th hole on the Bay course, along with the same ML 320 BlueTEC diesel that he normally drives when at home in California.
Mahalo to the people at Sage Collective and Mercedes-Benz USA . If only all of our clients set us up with such sweet cars to drive while on assignment!
