
Last November we photographed the emotional reunion of Maja Kazazic and Sally Becker in Tampa. Seventeen years ago Sally, a rescue worker, risked her own life in bringing Maja out of war-torn Bosnia so that Maya could receive adequate care for injuries she’d suffered when a grenade took her legs and threatened her life. The September issue of Good Housekeeping Magazine ran a series of photographs we made during their first encounter since.
Californians are cool and weddings there follow suit. We figure there’s something about easy access to some of the best produce, wine and scenery in the world that just sets people moving in the right direction. When Amy Dickinson and Jamey Carman commissioned us to document their wedding on Asilomar State Beach with a reception following at the conference grounds, we were thinking it was going to be amazing. We were right.

Every time we work with wedding designer William Bainbridge Steele our minds are blown. For the John’s Island Beach Club wedding reception of Anna-Bain Ladt and Brooks Reynolds, he and his team worked from midnight until six in the morning crafting one of the most breathtaking rooms in all of weddingdom.
It’s cool when someone whom you have a lot of respect for wants to hire you to do what you do. Before leaving for summer in Colorado, we had the opportunity to make a custom image library for K Restaurant in Orlando’s College Park neighborhood. We were happy to sample some of chef Kevin Fonzo’s world-class fare while we were at it.
Photographing 8 children at the same time can send chills down the spine of any photographer. Now add in a dose of Florida heat, 1pm light, a massive birthday party, and a television crew. Oh yeah, and Jen is in Colorado helping her mother plant a garden. No problem!
